A Huge Disaster
Last night after playing a little catch-up and watching the second episode of American Idol, this week’s Top Chef (can anyone stop Stephan?), and The Office; I noticed that Dosh Network had uploaded an update onto myDVR. I also noticed that there were something taking up space on there that I was beginning to doubt that I would ever watch.
So there I am, deleting the entire season of...
Ricardo Montalban dies at 88 (1920 - 2009)
As a child I loved Fantasy Island. I really did. Maybe it was Hervé Villechaize shouting “de plane, de plane,” the awesome location, or maybe it was the fact that it was kind of a grown up show that I was allowed to watch. I’ve always thought that if there was one show that should be re-made it should be Fantasy Island. Obviously I wasn’t alone because in 1998 it was...
American Idol Last Night
The first episode on American Idol was on last night and I have to say it was about what I expected. There were some great singers and of course there were some awful singers.
There were two contestants last night that really worried me. The first was Katrina Darrell, she showed up in about the tiniest swimsuit possible and despite not being great, she made it through to Hollywood. Simon and...
Only 20 Hours Left
I’ve really enjoyed the first 4 hours of 24. There have already been a few twists and turns I didn’t see coming (I won’t mention them here in case someone hasn’t watched it yet), and I”m sure that there is a bigger threat on the horizon for Jack, I mean after all isn’t there always?
There are a few additions of actors I’ve really enjoyed performances...
Joe On The Tube's Worst of 2008
I hate to go all negative here, but let’s face facts. If there is going to be a “Best of…” there has to be a “Worst of…”
The Worst of Television- 2008
Kath and Kim- I wanted this show to be good. Hell I wanted this show to be great. NBC had been marketing it as hard as I’ve ever seen them push a show. The 30 second clips that they would show...
Just got home with my new bike and I”m hitting the road for the first time. http://bit.ly/1mCN
Mad Med to return this summer according to Variety: http://joeonthetube.tumblr.com/
Mad Med Season 3 this summer
Variety has announced that Mad Med will return this summer as scheduled, and that AMC network president Charlie Collier believes that series creator Matthew Weiner will re-sign and return as well.
I don’t know about you, but I think his is AWESOME news.
My best of 2008 list: http://joeonthetube.tumblr.com/ Check out @joeonthetube as well.
Joe on the Tube's Best of 2008
This is going to be a long one folks. Most of these lists come right before the end of the year, but I was out of town so you are getting it 9 days in. I’ve scoured the internet, my DVR, your DVR, and your mother’s DVR and I’ve found what in my opinion are the best and worst shows and moments from television in 2008. Today’s post will focus on the Best of TV (the worst...
Just started my TV related twitter for my Blog. Check me out @joeonthetube
Looking at starting a Twitter account for my TV blog.
Working on a big blog post to be posted later today or early tomorrow. Best of Worst of TV 2008. Another list! http://bit.ly/2frVk
Best of Worst of TV 2008- Coming soon
I guess I can’t blog about TV if I’m not going to put together a list of the best and worst TV shows and moments of 2008. Coming soon, I promise.
January will be a good TV Month, Update
In the 10 months I’ve been writing this blog I’ve never had to go back and completely re-write a post, I’ve made some edits here and there, but never a full re-write. Well I guess there is a first time for everything. Back in November I wrote a post entitled: “January will be a good month for TV,” in which I listed all of the great shows that were starting in...
Scrubs starts this week
A little over a month ago I posted about all the great shows starting up in January. I forgot to mention one of my favorite sitcoms of the past few years starts again this week, Scrubs.
Scrubs is entering it’s 8th season. In case you aren’t familiar with Scrubs it is a medical sitcom based around the lives the the doctors, nurses, administration and employees of Sacred Heart...

TV's Biggest Bad Asses
I’ve been thinking about who the biggest bad asses on TV are. Now this can be difficult, because there are a lot of bad asses on TV, most of them are on cop/secret agent shows which I don’t watch a lot of. I’ve complied a list of who I think the 11 biggest bad asses currently on TV are. Why 11? Because 10 just wouldn’t be bad ass enough. Here they are in order of just...
I'm back
I’ve been out of town for about a week which is why I haven’t posted. I also haven’t watched anything since I left, and I plan to catch up this weekend. Expect a post or two on Monday.

January Will Be A Good TV Month
January will be a good month for TV. Here is a list of shows that are starting in January, with pictures!
24:
Let’s face it, no one on TV (or maybe the world) kick ass like Jack Bauer. I mean come on, he is Dwight K. Schrute’s idol.
Lost:
Polar bears on a tropical island, weird smoke that picks people up and kills them, the Jack-Kate-Sawyer love triangle, and best of all...
It's Dead To Me
I did a little purging of the DVR last night and I erased the 5 episodes of Heroes that were saved on there. They were in HD and taking up too much space. I wasn’t eager to watch them and I knew that if I ever wanted to I could always just watch them on-line. After doing that I thought long and hard (about 30 seconds) and I deleted the Heroes timer all together so that no more new...
True Blood and Entourage
Last night we got the season finales from both shows.
First up was the modern vampire tale set in rural Louisiana, True Blood. I’ll admit that I enjoyed this show more and more as the season progressed. The performances seems less hokey and the story-line became stronger. The killer was found, vampire love reigned supreme, and we found that vampires aren’t the only strange...
Top Chef and SOA
How great is this show? Only two weeks in and I’m already so jazzed about it. I’m sticking with my prediction, this guy is winning it all:
Only one more episode of Sons of Anarchy. Last night SOA took a dark turn, and should be in for a very spectacular ending. I really have no idea what will occur, but here are a few guesses of what I think might happen (don’t read if...
I've been meaning to post these for a while now.
I StumbleUpon these last week, and damn they are funny. They are from the site HolyTaco, so I’m giving them credit.
There are a few more, but I’ve included the funniest and most honest of the bunch.
Guess Who is Back in Scranton?
That’s right, it’s Pam. My wife (not “The Wife”) is very happy about this.
Last night was a great episode of The Office. Classic Michael, classic Ryan and Kelly, classic Andy, and Pam is back. All in all a great episode. Right back in line with the previous 4 seasons. My hopes are once again high and I’m sad that we are about half-way through the season.

My Own Worst Enemy*
There used to be a stigma attached to the film actor that made the transition to television. It was always the other way around. While the world of television may not be as glamorous as the world of movies, a lot of that stigma is gone (I thank The Soprano’s and HBO in general for that). By almost all accounts we’ve emerged from the wasteland that was the reality soaked TV of the...
Odds and Ends
According to numerous news sources, Spencer and Heidi from The Hills as well as Kim Kardshian will guest star on an upcoming episode of How I Met Your Mother. One of my first posts on this blog was about guest stars (Britney Spears) on HIMYM. I think it is a gimmick that should be reserved for The Love Boat and Fantasy Island. If a show is good, and HIMYM is, then there is no need for guest...
What's Your Name Again?
When My Name is Earl came on four seasons ago I absolutely loved it. Then it jumped the shark, big time. In case you aren’t familiar with the show here is the premise, Earl Hickey is a bad person, a very bad person. One day he wins $100,000 in the lottery and is hit by a car at almost the same time. It’s at that point he learns about karma (from Carson Daly no less), and Earl...
Is It Always Sunny in Philidelphia?
You betcha.
Have you seen It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia? I’ll admit I’ve been watching for a few years now and at first I didn’t know what to think, but now it is one of the highlights of my week. The story revolves around 4 friends who own “The Worst Bar in Philly” and one of their dads. It’s Always Sunny… is hilarious if you aren’t...

Such an Amazing Show
Rarely do I sit and watch anything and experience a feeling of dread brought on because I know it’s going to end soon, but that is exactly how I feel when I watch Sons of Anarchy. I don’t want the episode to end because I know when it does I’ll have to wait a whole week for it to start again.
This show is just getting better and better as the season goes on. The performances...
I almost forgot...
I meant to include this in my Mad Men post yesterday. If you are a fan of the show you should check out the very clever website What Would Don Draper Do.
The Hour-Long Comedy and Chuck
TV World has a formula, comedies are half an hour and dramas get a full hour. That’s the way things work. It is always true for dramas. And with a few exceptions it is true for comedies. One of those exceptions on the air right now is Chuck.
Chuck is the story of an average guy who has all the governments secrets downloaded into his brain and the lengths the government must go to...
Mad Men Season 2
Last night was the second season finale of Mad Men. In case you aren’t familiar with Mad Men it is the story of advertising men in the early 1960’s at the agency of Sterling Cooper, the story is centered around Don Draper.
This show is great on so many levels. My mother claims it is her favorite show on television, and I think it is only because the creators have gone to such...
Jumping the Shark
The Unban Dictonary defines Jump the Shark as: a term to describe a moment when something that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity. Origin of this phrase comes from a Happy Days episode where the Fonz jumped a shark on water skis. Thus was labeled the lowest point of the show.
There are countless examples of this happening, it has happened in...
The first new show removed from my DVR this...
After 2 disappointed episodes I’ve decided to stop watching NBC’s Kath & Kim. I wanted so much to like this show, and I was so looking froward to it, but needless to say it didn’t live up to expectations. As I stated before the whole show just felt like comedy sketch that went on way too long. The characters weren’t believable or like-able. It was hard to identify...
Ok, I admit it, I watch Project Runway
As far as reality television goes I think Bravo has two of the best options on TV today. First and foremost is Top Chef. For my reality TV viewing dollar it doesn’t get any better than this. That being said I also have to admit I enjoyed watching Project Runway this season, and not just because of Heidi Klum (I’m a huge Seal fan).
I’ve never watched Project Runway before...
By the way
For those of you that missed any of the first episodes of Son’s of Anarchy, you can now watch back episodes on FX’s website.
TV on the Interweb
How many people out there are watching their shows online in one format or another? From what I’ve read, websites like Hulu and others which offer streaming video of some of our favorite shows online for free are becoming quite popular. As a matter of fact a major sticking point of this years writer strike was WGA members were not seeing money from streaming on-line content that they...
Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling
For over a year now my parents have been raving about Ty Murray’s Celebrity Bull Riding. It was a reality series on CMT that they just loved. As the name so accurately describes it involved Professional Cowboy Ty Murray teaching “Celebrities” how to ride bulls. I never saw a single episode, but as I’ve heard countless re-tellings of the exploits of the celebrities...
I've never done this before...
I have never said a bad word about The Office before, and I don’t know that this will actually count as saying something bad about it, but Thursday night’s episode, “Business Ethics” just wasn’t on point. Other than Jim’s explanation of Battlestar Galacta to Andy I just didn’t think it was all that funny, and I can honestly say that I’ve never...
We few, we happy few
Earlier this week I was sick in bed for 3 days straight. I took that oppertunity to watch HBO’s excellent mini-series Band of Brothers. It is based on the Stephen Ambrose novel of the same name. Band of Brothers follows Easy Company of the 101 Airbourne Division from it’s basic training in Toccoa, Georgia through the end of the second World War. It was produced by both Steven...
Two Full Weeks In
We are now more than two full weeks into the Fall Season and there have been some bright shining spots and some dull ones as well.
A few weeks ago I wrote about Heroes starting up again and I was conflicted. This show had a wonderful first season followed by what many felt was a sophomore slump. Now three episodes into it’s third year I am kind of at a loss for what to say. It’s...
Lot's to Catch Up on
I’ve been out of town in Las Vegas since last week. I just got back last night and I have lots to catch up on TV wise. Before I left I did get a chance to watch The Office, and I thought it was great. Even when the episode is an hour long (I know technically it is 2 episodes) it just isn’t enough. Anyone else notice Rich Sommer who plays Harry Crane on Mad Men as one of Pam’s...

Tuesdays Suck For TV
I can honestly say that aside from Friday nights, Tuesdays are the worst night for television. There is pretty much nothing to watch tonight, and no premieres that I’m interested in. I’ve given Fringe a shot and I’m still not sold. It’s not bad, but I’m not hooked yet. It is nice to see Pacey working though.
So much to watch last night, but I got distracted by...
Fall Season Starts Tonight
I’m excited about the new fall season. There are some new shows I’m excited about and some old favorites that I can’t wait to see back. I’ve rated each show based on my Anticipation Level (AL) 1-10. Here are the shows I’ll be watching on Monday nights (MNF doesn’t count).
Heroes: AL-6
After a great first season, season 2 kind of fell flat. Part of me...
My last post about SOA
Admittedly I’ve been posting a lot about my favorite new show of the season thus far, but in truth the Fall TV season doesn’t start until next week. I promise this will be my last post about it for a while.
Katey Segal plays Gemma the matriarch of the Sons of Anarchy who is married to the club president Clay and mother to the club VP Jax.
As I was watching the 3rd episode last...
