My last post about SOA
Admittedly I’ve been posting a lot about my favorite new show of the season thus far, but in truth the Fall TV season doesn’t start until next week. I promise this will be my last post about it for a while.
Katey Segal plays Gemma the matriarch of the Sons of Anarchy who is married to the club president Clay and mother to the club VP Jax.

As I was watching the 3rd episode last night I realized something, Katey Segal is ratings gold. Ok, maybe ratings gold is a little much but look at the last 3 shows in which she had a major role.
1. 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter
This show lasted 76 episodes and was on TV for 4 seasons. This show was originally intended to be a vehicle for John Ritter, who unfortantley died after only 31 episodes. After his death it because more of an ensemble show, but Segal was the main character. A four year run for a sitcom that had the main character die in the middle of season two is pretty impressive.

2. Futurama
While Futurama never received the attention that other animated shows like The Simpsons did it has become a cult classic that has lived on through re-runs and a few straight to DVD movies. Katey voiced cyclopean Turanga Leela in all 72 episodes spanning 5 seasons and 6 movies.

3. Married With Children
This of course is where the world was largely first introduced to Katey Segal. She played the sex starved matriarch Peggy Bundy. With the exception of The Simpsons, Married With Children was the longest running sitcom in the history of FOX TV. MWC ran for 262 episodes spanning 11 years.

All that being said, her shortest show lasted 4 seasons which by today’s TV standards is awesome. Her longest, Married with Children is considered by many to be a ground breaking show that is largely responsible for the early success of FOX. Not too shabby of a resume.
