Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling
For over a year now my parents have been raving about Ty Murray’s Celebrity Bull Riding. It was a reality series on CMT that they just loved. As the name so accurately describes it involved Professional Cowboy Ty Murray teaching “Celebrities” how to ride bulls. I never saw a single episode, but as I’ve heard countless re-tellings of the exploits of the celebrities involved such as Vanilla Ice, “Rocket” Ishmail, Johnny Fairplay and others. It says a lot about this show that my parents watched it since they are not people who enjoy reality television.
I’ve heard my Dad ask more than once, “When are they going to put Celebrity Bull Riding back on?” While my taste in entertainment differs from my parents, we do enjoy some of the same shows, and I’m sorry I missed this one as it seems like it was entertaining.
A few weeks ago, CMT answered my Dad’s question, they aren’t. Instead of going back to riding the bulls CMT has changed the format this season and introduced Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling. This show will take on the same format as it’s predecessor but introduce “Celebrities” to the world of professional wrestling via Hulk Hogan. The “Celebrities” are: Danny Bonaduce, Todd Bridges, Butterbean, Trishelle Cannatelle, Dustin Diamond, Erin Murphy, Dennis Rodman, Frank Stallone, Tiffany, and Nikki Ziering.
There are a few of these I have no idea who they are, and I haven’t taken the time to find out. As a fan of wrestling in the 80’s and 90’s I am looking forward to this show, and I have high hopes in someone hurting Dustin Diamond really really bad.
