Ok, I admit it, I watch Project Runway

As far as reality television goes I think Bravo has two of the best options on TV today. First and foremost is Top Chef. For my reality TV viewing dollar it doesn’t get any better than this. That being said I also have to admit I enjoyed watching Project Runway this season, and not just because of Heidi Klum (I’m a huge Seal fan).

I’ve never watched Project Runway before this season, but my wife has been a fan for years. In an effort to spend a little more time together, we decided to make an effort to find more shows we could watch together, and this was one of them.
As I sit here in my t-shirt, jeans, and hoodie I can honestly say I know nothing about fashion. I don’t know Oscar De La Renta from Oscar Meyer, but that doesn’t matter so much for this show.
As with Top Chef, Project Runway finds people who know their craft but are unknown to the world at large and gives them the opportunity to make a name for themselves in that field. I appreciate this so much more than the random strangers standing on poles for hours on end, or drunken fights between two 23 year-olds that happens on other reality TV. Sure some of the challenges are strange; like crafting an outfit out of car parts, or creating a gourmet meal from monk fish to serve to 3rd graders, but that just makes it all the more interesting.

The new season of Top Chef starts November 12, and is set in the great food location, NYC. If you haven’t watched this show before, give it a shot. If you are into food and fine dining you will enjoy it all the more, but even if you are not you will appreciate the skill of the competitors.
