Have you seen It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia? I’ll admit I’ve been watching for a few years now and at first I didn’t know what to think, but now it is one of the highlights of my week. The story revolves around 4 friends who own “The Worst Bar in Philly” and one of their dads. It’s Always Sunny… is hilarious if you aren’t easily offended. They cover topics from dumpster babies, incest, crack addiction, retardation, pooping in bed, hunting the homeless, etc. Their irreverent humor reminds me of South Park in many ways, but without the message at the end. These guys aren’t trying to teach a lesson, they are hunting homeless because it’s funny, plain and simple.
Now in the middle of it’s fourth season, It’s Always Sunny… has really come into it’s own. This is the type of show that, even if it’s content were to be found acceptable to network TV, you would never see on network TV. It’s writers and creators are it’s stars. They take the chance that you will find funny the same things that they do, and you know what, it works. It works on so many levels. Other than Danny DeVito, who didn’t come on until the second season all the actors were relativity unknown, which makes the show all the more charming, but they are not associated with anything but these characters.
