I watched the first 2 hours of 24 last night and I am cautiously optimistic.  I think it will be better than the last season, but it is too early to dish out to much praise. I was also surprised that we made it almost 50 minutes into the 2nd hour before Jack killed his first bad guy. One more quick observation, did the whole thing seem like one long Ford comercial to you?
